Position: Patient Safety, Experience and Engagement Lead

Neil West joined Ellern Mede in 2017 and as of November 2020 takes on the role of Patient Safety, Experience and Engagement Lead. He has many years of experience in child, adolescent and adult mental health services, both in the community and inpatient services. Neil is also a registered Social Worker who now supervises social work for all group sites. He has managed NHS and independent hospital services since 2003. At Ellern Mede, Neil’s latest role is expensive and encompasses:
•Strategic development of Patient experience and engagement
•Strategic development of Carer experience and engagement
•Key role in influencing others behaviours, cultural development and change across the group in relation to Patient voice
•Social Work Manager and Social Work Supervisor for all sites
•Safeguarding Lead/Advisor alongside the Registered Managers
•Named Advocacy relationship manager for all sites alongside the Registered Managers
•Implementation of initiatives and projects to ensure that the Patient voice is effectively represented in Recruitment, Induction and Training
•Policy implementation in relation to experience/engagement with Patients/Carers
•Lead on Patient experience annual survey
•Lead on Carer experience annual survey
•Strategic lead for the Friends and Family Test
•Staff Engagement
•Lead on Annual PLACE Assessments
•Key named Investigating Officer for Patient safety incidents / Safeguarding incidents
•Key named Investigating Officer for Patient complaints
•Key named Investigating Officer for Carer complaints
