Accessing our services as a commissioner or individual
Private individuals may only contact us directly about private self-pay services.
Most children and young people with eating disorders access NHS services. The NHS provides excellent care at their own specialist eating disorder units as well as through services they subcontract from specialist independent providers such as Ellern Mede.
Please note that all NHS referrals must come through an NHS team, not a private individual, and that every NHS funding situation is subject to commissioner agreement. Independent providers of mental health care such as Ellern Mede offer services to people who pay privately and to those that fall within the a finite number of budgeted, NHS-resourced, pre-contracted services.
Ellern Mede is also happy to help NHS commissioners who are in a position to go beyond pre-contracted resources with a spot purchase. That is an NHS commissioner approved funding method made to an independent service provider.
Parent point of view
“We wanted to write to tell you all that our daughter has maintained weight since her discharge. She is positive and settled. Thank you for all your help and support during her outpatient programme with Ellern Mede. We know that we can come back and see the same team in future if we need to and that gives us greater hope for our daughter’s continued recovery.” Jennifer, London
Commissioner point of view
“Thank you Ellern Mede for all of the communication about patient progress. We don’t often get this from inpatient units and it really does make a difference to the local team having regular updates.”
