Job Description

Ellern Mede hospitals for young people need two experienced Senior Healthcare Assistants with a background in mental healthcare. Your compassionate care and team leadership skills will earn you valuable experience in caring for children and young people with eating disorders. One role is at Ellern Mede Ridgeway in Mill Hill (NW7 4HX). The other is at Ellern Mede Barnet in North London (EN55EE). Our induction programme ensures you will feel capable, comfortable and welcomed to your new role.

Day and Night shifts are available. Salary range £22,500  to £25,000 dependent on experience.

Shift Patterns: 12 hour shifts, 3 shifts in week one, four shifts in week two; pattern of seven shifts in two weeks.

  • Mental healthcare experience is essential
  • Use of Electronic Patient Records

  • A positive warm manner with patients and their families

Senior Health Care Assistants are team leaders for HCAs, who form the largest part of our patient facing staff. You and your team play a key role within Ellern Mede’s Multi-Disciplinary Team, and a huge role in supporting vulnerable young people. You are with them day in and day out. You get to know them very well. Your professional relationship with the young people will be close, but boundaried, supportive, but firm with the eating disorder. You need to be psychologically strong, and empathic. You will encounter difficult interactions. You will have the full support of your manager, team and regular supportive supervision, as well as access to our Employee Assistance Programme.
