Ellern Mede Barnet

Ellern Mede Barnet is a 16 bed eating disorder hospital, with an adjoining step down annex. We deliver highly specialised care to children and young people aged 8–18 years and, in a separate eight bed ward, and in the annex, young adults up to 25. We prepare patients to re-join the community and return home.

Services at Ellern Mede Barnet are offered both privately and in partnership with public funded health authorities throughout the British Isles as well as internationally.

The hospital offers a bright and modern environment with spacious en-suite bedrooms, communal spaces, ‘rainbow lounge’ dining room and meeting rooms. A private garden provides outdoor space. Ground and first floor are patient areas and the second floor is office space and therapy rooms. Children use Rowan Ward. Adults use Ash Ward. Each patient group has its own dining and lounge space. Further step down ward accommodation is in the Annex.

The hospital is easily accessed by public transport with ample parking in neighbouring roads and directions are included at the bottom of this page together with the latest Care Quality Commission (CQC) Report.

There is a great need in the UK for Family Therapy based eating disorder programmes. There is also a need for immediate access to care and effective discharge-focused treatment. We bring 20 years of expertise and know that recovery from an eating disorder requires specialist intensive treatment.”
