10th October Mental Health Day in the UK sees a very inspiring range of media interviews with people who can show that the challenge of mental ill health is one that can be overcome. Every individual finds their own path, but listening to advice, being prepared to seek help, surviving and not being ashamed of vulnerability are all welcome trends.
Jonny Wilkinson is famous for his rugby career. On ITV This Morning and BBC News today, he explained he was always ‘driven to find out just how much he can achieve’. This was something that created significant anxiety. His drive has not reduced, but the anxiety has. He has replaced rugby success as his goal, with a new goal. He is finding out just how living happily and successfully, and in the moment, can be a goal in itself.
